“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.”                                                                                              Langston Hughes

This month marks the start of Black History Month.  At Black Opal, we have been underway since the start of the year, saluting some of the most notable achievements of Black women in history, and Black women currently making history.
All of these women not only had a dream in which they refused to let fade, but they took action to make it flourish.  These beautiful dreamers inspire us to believe anything is possible….if we have purpose and tenacity to pursue what we desire.
Understanding ourselves, our purpose, is the first step.  Figuring out the actions we need to take to realize these dreams and not being afraid to execute our life plan is the key.  But the single most important quality that has made these women extraordinary leaders and future achievers is their willing to share their wisdom, ability to hear the cries of others in need, and find a way to be “that change we want to see in the world.”

We hope you enjoy our continuing series of profiles….and share your favorites with us.   Click here to see all of the profiles.

Black History is not a month long celebration.  It is a lifetime celebration.  So, let’s continue to acknowledge and support the work and achievements of Black women and men in all fields!
