Black Opal is dedicated to providing the best skincare and color cosmetics to our consumers, but an important part of our mission is to provide young people with the tools necessary to succeed in life. That means helping them to get an education to fulfill their dreams. We began our philanthropy in 1994 with the BLACK OPAL ACHIEVERS AWARDS rewarding outstanding young women who demonstrated academic excellence and community achievement and continue our mission globally through 2 consumer-centric platforms:
The BLACK OPAL TRUE BEAUTY MODEL SEARCH awards scholarships to deserving young women in the USA and serves as a global platform for aspiring young models. Since its inception in 2011, the TRUE BEAUTY MODEL SEARCH has awarded over $100,000 scholarship dollars and showcased the true beauties of the future. Voted on by consumers and a prestigious panel of judges, young women of color are encouraged to enter this contest in February of each year for a chance to turn their educational dreams into beautiful realities.
Black Opal extends its philanthropic mission globally through its support of the Georges Malaika Foundation (GMF) - Empowering African girls through education in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Through our SHOP FOR A CAUSE & FADE ILLITERACY campaign, our consumers are encouraged to shop for their favorite Even True Skincare products and help support our initiative. Black Opal then donates 25% of the sales proceeds from our Even True Skin Care Products to help advance literacy, provide educational tools and supplies, pay teachers' salaries and feed the students daily at the GMF school for girls in Kalebuka, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The SHOP FOR A CAUSE giving campaign kicks off in September and extends for a full year.
