Dr. Burgess is the founder and president of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Washington, DC. She is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center and George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC.
After earning a doctorate of medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, Dr. Burgess completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Dermatology at Howard University Hospital. She is board certified in Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. She serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Women's Dermatologic Society and on the Board of Directors of the Skin of Color Society.
A frequent speaker at dermatology and plastic surgery conferences, Dr. Burgess has also been featured on such programs as ABC News, FOX News, and NBC News.
Dr. Burgess has shared her vast knowledge of skin of color with BioCosmetic Research Lab to help us create the Black Opal skincare line.
